Richmond County Orchestra

Staten Island's premiere professional home-grown symphony orchestra (65-85 members strong) The Richmond County Orchestra has served greater SI for over 7 years with 10-20 performances per season! This includes its annual great performance series, the Maestro Speaks series and Classic's for Kids' series, all open to the public at modest admission and FREE for Children. Under Maestro Alan Aurelia the orchestra has gained national attention and has been able to attract world class musicians, soloists, celebrities, and combine them with local musicians, singers, composers, visual artists, poets and dancers creating diverse, dynamic multi-media concert events.

RCO's Student Mentoring programs and extensive music in education outreach programs "bringing classics to the kids & kids to the classics" have helped launch many students music careers. RCO's huge diversity in its musicians age and ethnic makeup helps create and generate equally diverse programming for our SI community. "To entertain and to educate" is the RCO motto.

RCO awards a prize and a nationally televised public concert with the orchestra to the winner of it's annual music competition. The RCO has produced two CDs on SI. RCO performs in a large variety of venues. Including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Cotton Club, The Jewish Heritage Museum, the Music Hall at Snug Harbor, St John's University, St George Theatre, St Peters Church, The Conference House, Wagner College and CSI.
